Bye bye Macromedia

It’s final. They finally did it. Adobe has officially acquired Macromedia. I’ve been using both Macromedia and Adobe products for my business and have always had a hard time choosing one over the other. Now that they’re one, it’s exciting to find out what’s ahead. I’m not sure what to expect.

I currently use Macromedia Dreamweaver MX for my web designing needs and Fireworks MX for my web graphics needs. I use Macromedia Captivate to create my movie tutorials. And I use Adobe Acrobat to create my e-books.

It’s exciting to think of Adobe’s potential now. There’ll be better integration between products. Due to my recent problems, I’m particularly looking forward to a better working relationship between Flash and Acrobat. A consistent software interface is also a big plus. This would make it a lot easier to learn how to use the softwares.

As exciting as all this is, it’s also a bit sad to think about how the less popular Macromedia products may soon fade away. But let’s not ponder about that. Let’s just wait and see what happens.
