I live in Italy, and in the last 5 months I got 5 customers who bought ARP3.

I followed their problems with ARP3 and I can say for sure that you don't need at all to have a server with ThirdSphere, 'cuz I had my server with Steve Hetrick in http://datawordpro.com for more than 4 years, with ARP3 installed, and that's not a dedicated server, it's a virtual dedicated server.

Most of my customers use a BlueHost server: one had problems with MySql, but it was a mistake from them, and the other never got problems with BlueHost; then if the number of messages per hour you filled inside ARP3 causes problems of traking or other problems like blocking of the account, you can ask to BloeHost to increase the number of messages per hour without having to spend any dime more.

Naturally what they spend for blue host is not so much, and I don't spend so much for http://datawordpro.com either.

Figure out that I solved the problem of the language for all of them, 'cuz they are all italian.

Why switching to Aweber?

Hey All,

Just wanted to add my 2¢ to the thread.

Regarding "Approved Hosts" being removed. I can't speak for the owners of AutoResponse Plus, but I will tell you that I only work with and recommend ThirdSphere Hosting. Why? Three reasons.

Reason # 1: They have great customer service that is very responsive.

Reason # 2: They work with me, when necessary, to solve customer problems.

Reason # 3: They allow email sends of, up to, 10,000/hour, up to 20,000/day (this is their Shared hosting, Dedicated hosting numbers go up to 500,000)

Some AutoResponse Plus users were having their account disabled because their host only allowed 50, 100, or 1000 email sends per hour. ARP will send 5,000/hour without any special adjustments. Needless to say, any host with those email sending limitations, was removed from our ( http://www.ARPros.com ) approved host list. Any other reasons are our competitors trying to scare people.

Our company, ARPros.com, has been using ThirdSphere Hosting for 4 years with very few problems. I like their configuration and recoomend them all the time.

Full disclosure: No. I don't have stock in them. Yes, I'm an affiliate. But, I'm also an affiliate at 2 other hosts.

AutoResponse Plus was developed using a subscriber base of 125,000. Email list were tested with a minimal number of bounces. Bounces or Undelivered Mail places a huge burden on the server resources.

AutoResponse Plus is very resource intensive. I tell people if you want to send more than 30,000 emails, get a dedicated server. We also do Tuning and Optimization for AutoResponse Plus and it's MySQL database. We have a custom script we developed for a list of 279,000. Really, anytime you want to do mailing over 100,000 you should have your AutoResponse Plus setup reconfigured.

Another issue that we have seen is, your ARP runs, then pause. You restart it. Your ARP pauses again. This continues

This could be caused by several things:

- Your ARP has bad data in your list database. MySQL is your database and will stop processing email sends when it is asked to use unacceptable data.

- Your ARP and MySQL need to be tuned and optimized.

- Your MySQL server needs to be tuned and optimized.

- Your ARP MySQL is being shared with other applications and they have a problem. Their error cause ARP to appear that it has a problem.

- Or, any combination of the above.

Point of reference/credentials, I have:

* worked with ARP since 2002

* run a forums ( http://www.arpguru.com/forums/index.php ) and Help Desk ( https://arpguru.com/amember/member.php ) on ARP issues

* done customizations and custom programming on ARP ( http://www.arpros.com/arpconsult.php )

* developed 2 install process - normal is 36 - 48 hours ( http://www.arpros.com/arpinstall.php )

* have more tha 2 decades of software development experience

* a M.S. in Information Systems Engineering

... bottom line is I think I know a little about AutoResponse Plus

Hi Wynn,

1)Yes, I switched to Aweber and still with them.

2)You have to go through the Aweber's opt-in process. One thing you can do is to offer your members an irresistable gift for signing up to the new list.

3)Sorry. I don't use ClickBank/2CO with Aweber.

4)I've never tried List Mail Pro 3.

5)GetResponse is pretty good as well, in terms of features. The only thing about GetResponse is that it offers a free version which MIGHT increase the spam rate associated with a GetResponse account but then again, I'm sure they would have figured out a way around this.

Hi Bina,

Just found your blog article through google.

I'm also at the point of deciding whether to go for AWeber or set up my own autoresponder.

A couple of questions here:

1) Out of curiosity, did you finally switch over to AWeber?

2) How do you tackle moving the membership customers automatically to your mailing list? Don't think AWeber support such integration without double opt-in from membership users.

3) Do you also have experience integrating ClickBank/2CO with AWeber. I've asked AWeber, and they said after someone purchases something from the website, I have to present a second from to ask them fill in the name and email AGAIN for submission to AWeber!

4) Since you have been using ARP3 for some time, believe you have considered "List Mail Pro 3" too. What do you think about the software? Is it as good as ARP3?

5) Believe you have evaluated GetResponse against AWeber too. Any particular reason that makes you go with AWeber as oppose to GetResponse?

Would greatly appreciate if you could give me some advice.

Thanks and Regards,
/wynn

The response I received recently from Thirdsphere is that you're lists combined should not have more than a thousand subscribers.

This is unacceptable for anyone who's looking to make money over the internet (rather than just have a web page up as a hobby) and, based on this response from them, I don't recommend using ARP in conjunction with them.

I got a similar message from my host (not 3rd sphere). We'd got 250,000 subscribers. It was causing the same problems. My solution was to pay a lot more for a virtual web server.

I don't know the cost of keeping 250,000 names on aweber is, but I imagine it's prohibitive.

arp3 is still a great tool, but users have been waiting in vain for four years for improvements. Now they're promising RSS - which is not something that users have been asking for.

Les, I gave up and switched to Aweber. Mind you, I lost quite a number of subscribers this way because of Aweber's double opt-in requirement.

But I figured that if they didn't bother to click on the confirmation link, they either are just not interested enough in my mailings or my mail was caught up in some filter and just didn't reach them. Either way, it's best to have them off the list so I can get more accurate results in terms of tracking my list responsiveness.

If you want to stick with ARP3, the only other option is to switch to ThirdSphere Hosting.
