I was just reading Lynette’s post over at Tech Based Marketing. I’ve been coming across a lot of discussion lately about Site Build It vs XSitePro. Before I continue, I’d just like to point out that:
- I’ve never tried XSitePro but have read quite a lot about it and have seen some of its video tutorials. Plus, I know people who do use XSitePro
- I used SiteBuildIt when I first started out but no longer use it anymore. You can check out my review back then here.
So, what I say may be a teeny weeny bit off track.
Having said that, here goes …
In a nutshell:
If you know what you’re doing and you’re in a hurry and you need to get your site up and running with your content and affiliate links all in place in a few clicks of the button … then go for XSitePro.
If, on the other hand, what I just said made absolutely no sense to you … then stick to Site Build It.
In a bigger shell:
XSitePro is mainly for someone who have at least a vague idea of what internet marketing is all about. So, you should have at least read a hand full of internet marketing articles and you’re familiar with some of the marketing techniques available. You know … SEO, article marketing, linking strategies. You should also be familiar with the different ways you could earn an income from your web site – Adsense, affiliate links, your own products.
If you know absolutely nothing except for the fact that you’d like to build a web site and earn money from it, then SiteBuildIt is probably a better way to go about it.
When you sign up with Site Build It, you not only have a whole set of web building and optimizing tools at your disposal, you also have a manual on how to go about creating a web site that will make you money. From finding a profitable idea, to keyword generation with their BrainStormIt software, to building web pages that will rank high in the search engines.
I truly love the manual. I believe that everyone who wants to start making money from the web should read it because it teaches you how to be a responsible netizen and to produce a web site that other netizens can be proud of. Not just a bunch of crappy keyword tweaked web pages that offer content with no real value but will rank highly in search engines and will trick visitors into clicking adsense ads. I’ve come across so many sites that literally has content that don’t make sense. Just pieces of phrases put together.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand.
The thing with Site Build It is that you will quickly outgrow it if you are one of those who are quickly and constantly learning about new ways to do things … pretty much like me
.
I stopped using SiteBuildIt because I found that it was not as flexible as I needed it to be. I needed to install some scripts and with SiteBuildIt, you can only use what they offer you. You have no direct access to the server where your site is hosted and therefore, cannot just do as you please.
Conclusion
It really depends on which category you are in. Either way, both products are superb.

I am a 19 year old aspiring affiliate marketer who intends to start making a living via the internet sir i alredy know a lot about internet marketing from how to chose a winning product to how to build a site that sells(or rather pre-sells) due to my having spent the last 6 months buying every single book on affiliate marketing that i could get my hands on from rosalind gardners “super affiliate handbook to Perry Marshall’s Definitive Guide To Google AdWords” (which i have to confess was absolutely stunning)I now want to set up an affiliate site but i’m confused should i sign up with SBI or do I use XSitePro please I would like to know your honest opinion
Itoro, it is hard for me to give you an opinion since I don’t know a lot of things about you. For example, to what extend is your knowledge (besides the one you have already mentioned), your budget, your goals, your objectives …
Having said that, I would normally recommend anyone starting their very first site to go SBI. With SBI you all the tools you need, for e.g. brainstorm tool which will help you identify profitable niches BEFORE you start. An SBI account also includes domain and hosting, plus email list hosting, in bound tracking, out bound tracking, and a complete manual on how to start.
With XSitePro, you will have to also invest in a domain, hosting account, keyword research tools and a mailing list service (just to name a few). So, unless you already have all this, it is more cost effective to start out with SBI.
To make a better decision though, I recommend you take a look at some of SBI training videos to get an idea of what you’re in for.
Hi. I’m considering SBI for my existing brick and mortar business (printing/design) and have a question about what you said concerning the flexibility of SBI. You were saying that you could not incorporate custom scripts into your site. When I went through the SCI presentation, it stated that you could build your own site from scratch and still use it with SBI. (Graphically, I find alot of the SBI sites leave something to be desired, so I’d probably want to use my own.) Could you give me some clarity on this? Thanks.
Hi Jeff,
With respect to “design”, SBI will allow you to use your own. That includes one the you have designed from scratch. If you were to buy a site template, for example, as long as you have some HTML knowledge, you can certainly get it to work with the SBI system.
What I mean by custom scripts are PHP, CGI or Perl scripts that you need to put on the server to process your data. You wouldn’t be able to upload your own form processing script, for example.
I hope that clears things up for you.
Hello Bina,
Nice blog you got here interesting subjects. You did make me rethink what I thought i had decided already.
Thing is, and maybe you’ll be able to help me, but I have everything to learn about the Ebiz, I mean everything, I read a lot of the concepts , but now I know my next step is to jump in and get the experience.
On the other hand, I’m a computer programmer, not specialized in web sites though, and I will eventually want to code server-sides scripts and also Ajax. But this won’t be before I’m proficient with the Business side.
I was convinced that XsitePro was better suited since it is more flexible and doesn’t lock you up on server and doesn’t make you use only native tools.
Is it better to use SiteBuildIt To learn the biz and not worry about the technicalities upfront.
Basically, I still have some thinking to do.
What would your take be on this?
Have a great day!
Hi LPR,
Sorry for the late reply. I can’t really give you a direct answer as it really depends on many things such as what type of web site you’d like to build, what you have planned ahead. I still think that SBI is a great way to start to learn “the business” but provided you’re willing to accept it’s limitations. SBI does have a money back guarantee if you find it’s not quite what you were after.
Hi,
I just wondered if SBI can also be used for a Web-site in Spanish language. I mean, will SBI take care to register it in the Spanish Search Engines and Directories? Does the Brainstorm it also work for Spanish keywords etc…
Thanks for your reply.
This is quite a stretch from the last dated question…hope to get an answer. DOES Site Build It support PHP or not??? I see documentation stating both. I really need an answer as I just purchased Flash Page Flip Pro PHP as I am building an Ebook website. I am at a point where I have no idea how to even get my FPF Pro PHP started. I don’t want to waste time if I can’t even use it with my new Site Build It site.
xsite pro sounds really good unfortunately I cant use it because I have an apple mac. My search continues. If you hear of any others that support macs could you let me know please, thanks
