If you’re using WordPress, the Redirection plugin is any easy way to redirect your links without messing with any htaccess file. Just upload the the zip file via WordPress and activate the plugin. You will a Redirection link appear under the Tools menu.
To create a redirect, all you have to do is type in a URL and where to redirect it to. I use this to redirect affiliate links.
For example, I can set it up so that anyone going to http://www.webbriefcase.com.au/xsitepro will be redirected to the XSitePro website using my affiliate link.
A great feature that I like about this plugin is that it shows how many hits each redirect link gets. This way, I can quickly check to see which products my visitors are most interested in.
The plugin will also log any of your 404 errors. You get a 404 error page when you try to access page that no longer exist. This could mean lost traffic for you. With this plugin, you can redirect the links to another URL on your site or even to an affiliate product that is related to the topic of the missing page.
The Redirection plugin does a lot more than just these. You can read more about it at http://urbangiraffe.com/plugins/redirection/
