Tools of the Trade

Here are the tools and resources that help keep WebBriefcase up and running. We’ve also added other resources that we’ve used for our client sites.

Domain Registrar

WordPress Web Hosting

  • BlueHost
WebBriefcase is currently being hosted on Bluehost’s Optimized Hosting For WordPress hosting account. We recommend BlueHost to all our clients as it has a very user friendly interface suitable even for the absolute beginner.
  • Hostgator
We use Hostgator to host our other sites. HostGator has got to be one of the most reliable host out there. They may not be as beginner friendly but they provide support second to none and have more packages to choose from.

Landing Pages, Optin Pages, Sales Pages, Funnel

  • LeadPages
Leadpages makes building optin forms and extremely easy. You can create optin and squeeze pages, sales page, webinar pages and much more. And usually it only takes minutes. It also includes split testing to help improve conversions.
  • OptimizePress
OptimizePress is a plugin that does what LeadPages does and is more flexible. In addition, OptimizePress also helps with the creation of membership sites. And unlike LeadPages that charges a monthly fee for it’s services, OptimizePress costs a one time fee and you can use it for life.
  • ClickFunnels
ClickFunnels is a service like LeadPages but has the flexibility and options of OptimizePress. You get to actually drag and drop the pages you created into a funnel, you even have the option to process payment via Stripe.

Autoresponder Services

  • Aweber
We have been using Aweber to maintain our mailing lists like forever. And it has only been getting better and better.
  • GetResponse
Though we’ve never used GetResponse before, we have a lot of clients who do and have therefore worked with it in one capacity or another. It is a good alternative to Aweber.
  • MailChimp
If you’re on a budget, MailChimp may be just for you. Their free account lets you send 12,000 emails to 2,000 subscribers at no cost. They also allow you disable double opt-ins when using their API which is useful when integrating with membership plugins.

WordPress Themes

  • StudioPress
WebBriefcase has made extensive use of StudioPress themes in the past. Whilst StudioPress themes are exceptional, you may need a bit of technical know how to set them up. If you’re willing to put in the work, StudioPress provides excellent support.
  • ElegantThemes
ElegantThemes is another one of our favourites when building client sites. For an affordable price, you can get access to all of their beautifully designed themes.

WordPress Plugins

  • WordPress SEO
We believe that WordPress SEO is the first step to get your blog ready for the search engines. It incorporates features from a snippet preview and page analysis functionality that helps you optimize your pages content, images titles, meta descriptions and more to XML sitemaps, and loads of optimization options in between.
  • WP Social SEO
Without getting too technical, this plugin goes a step further by adding all the proper meta tags from your existing content and optimizes your WordPress blog for Facebook, Google Plus, Schema.org Rich Snippet Microdata, Twitter, Pinterest, HTML5 Boilerplate, Local SEO, Video SEO, and more. Together with WordPress SEO, WP Social SEO will boost your search engine visibility.
  • Wishlist Member
Wishlist Member is a popular WordPress plugin that will help transform your site into a membership site complete with payment integration and content protection. We highly recommend this plugin and use it ourselves in our membership site setup package.
  • WP Courseware
Offering courses? This is a great plugin that we use ourselves to offer courses. There are great features such as a dynamic progress widget so that students can keep track of where they are. You can also offer quizzes. And another great thing is it integrates with various membership plugins such as Wishlist Member.
  • myCRED
Increase member participation with this neat plugin. Reward points/credits to them for registering, logging in, commenting or even finishing a course. Then let them use their points to redeem downloads or content on your site.
