Cpanel Tutorial - Creating Email Accounts
One of the things you'll want to do, right after signing up to your Cpanel based web host is to create one or several email accounts for your domain.

When you first sign up with your web host, a default email account is created using your username. So, if your username is empire for example and your domain name yourdomain.com then your default email account will be empire@yourdomain.com.
Normally, this default email is a catchall email account. This means that any email going to your domain will end up here. So, any email that is sent to info@yourdomain.com or me@yourdomain.com or 123@yourdomain.com will all end up in the default email account IF there are no existing email accounts set up for those addresses.
The problem with using a catchall email?
The problem with using only default email as a catchall email account can be summarized in four letters - S P A M
This email account will be the target for spammers. Spammers normally just guess your email address and hope that you have a catchall email address so that you'll receive their email even if it the email address they use doesn't exist.
So, my advice is for you to set up separate email accounts and have all the email going to your default account be deleted automatically.

Okay, this is hard to explain without a screencast video, so watch the following to see how you can re-route your emails to the "blackhole".
This increases the chance of you getting legitimate emails.
Setting Up Separate Email Accounts
This video screencast tutorial below will walk you through setting up email accounts.
Once you've set up these accounts, you can set up your email software to download your messages to your computer. Cool eh.
You can even create an account for someone else. So, if you hired a virtual assistant, for example, you could set up an email account for support@yourdomain.com and she can set up her email software to download the emails straight to her computer.
Check out the following screencast.
